Designing a bathroom for a child is both fun and challenging. A child’s bathroom is usually one of the most used bathrooms in the house and mostly because the child is using the bathroom and sometimes, even the parent is in there to help the child. The unfortunate part of this is that most parents have absolutely no clue how to decorate a child’s bathroom. Bathrooms in themselves present their own special types of unique challenges, especially when it comes to children’s bathrooms.
There are plenty of bathroom decor accessories on the market today that are geared toward children. Bright colors and whimsical characters are big sellers. But, before you invest all of your money in every rubber duckie product you can find, you may want to ponder the lifespan of the rubber duckie. If you don’t plan to design a new bathroom every few years, you will want to choose a design that will grow with your child.
Color
While it is tempting to splash the walls with bright primary colors, consider keeping the walls a neutral white or beige, then add color accents. You can do this by installing a colored sink with a coordinating shower curtain and rug.
Storage space
Kids have a lot of bathroom stuff. A basket on the back of the commode will hold bath toys or extra toilet tissue. If your child is still small, a step stool can be neatly hidden inside or beside a vanity.
Shower head
This allows you to adjust the water flow to different heights for your growing child.
Art Decorate
Consider hanging your child’s own art work on the walls. Allow them to decorate a wall tile or picture frame.
Light
A night light which activates in the dark serves as a welcoming comfort for your child as he learns to use the bathroom independently.
Your child’s tastes will change, as they get older. Getting items that can easily be changed as much as your child is a great and cost-effective decision. Avoid decorations that you may find are difficult to switch or change. Wallpaper, for instance, with pictures of cars, princesses or bugs might be fun for a small child. As they get older, those ideas will change and will likely grow out of that style, which leaves outdated wallpaper for you to replace. You can use your imagination and go wild when it comes to decorating a bathroom for your child.
With all the accessories to choose from for decorating, the true biggest challenge you might find is trying to figure out which decorations you want to utilize. The best way to decorate a bathroom is to create the kind of bathroom you know your children will love and enjoy for years to come.
